The gain of the BC440-4 will be in the range from 40 to 70, for the BC440-5 it will be in the range from 60 to 130, for the BC440-6 it will be in the range from 115 to 250.The complementary PNP transistor to the BC440 is the BC460.You can replace the BC440 with the 2N5321, BC140, BC141 or BC441.
