The BC168 is manufactured in a plastic TO-92 case. When looking at the flat side with the leads pointed downward, the three leads emerging from the transistor are, from left to right, the emitter, collector, and base leads.

The gain of the BC168A will be in the range from 110 to 220, for the BC168B it will be in the range from 200 to 450, for the BC168C it will be in the range from 420 to 800.The complementary PNP transistor to the BC168 is the BC258.The MMBTH10 (SOT-23) is the SMD version of the BC168 transistor. These transistors are of the same type, have similar parameters and are designed for surface mounting.You can replace the BC168 with the 2N3394 or BC169.
